Nice job laying out the Truman Presidency and issues concerning his administration in regards to Soviet Union expansionism and dealing with countries under communist threat. Truman dealt with a lot of issues and I felt like he did a pretty good job.
Some might doubt that appraisal, according to revisionist Historians who disagreed with his dropping the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. I think historians on both sides of the aisle had good points and that is why looking at history from different lenses is very important. As historians we cannot be one dimensional. We gain so much by looking at all angles of an issue. It is easy to sit back and question history when it did not fall on our shoulders. Unfortunately, history is not black and white.
In my opinion, Truman did a good job keeping the Soviets contained as much as possible and he helped other countries financially with the Marshal Plan so they would not fall into communist hands. I think he surrounded himself with knowledgeable people who helped him make good decisions.
WWII is not my area of most interest but I have really enjoyed learning more and more with each weeks readings.
