Ryan, I love that we picked the same project, yet our PowerPoint content is completely different. The only thing we had in common was the election of Ronald Reagan and the Iran-Contra scandal. We can both agree that both were critical portions of the 1980s. I understand you including the Soviet Boycott of the 1984 Olympic Games, this was part of the Cold War and more importantly a response to the U.S. boycott four years prior. One thing I did not consider when creating my project was the meeting between Reagan and Gorbachev. This seemed like and “olive branch” meeting between the two superpowers with, I guess we will never know what went on behind closed doors.

I also did not consider the Challenger space shuttle disaster; I remember being in third grade watching the launch live in the cafeteria of my elementary school. I could only imagine the reaction of parents today if the school allowed them to see that disaster. What do you think would have happened? Lastly, I find it difficult to believe that Reagan would not have known about the Iran-Contra affair since Oliver North claims to have had authorization for everything he did in regards to selling arms to Iran and using the proceeds to fund and the anti-drug war in Nicaragua. What is your opinion on that?

I do not do power points for student projects; I just do comments.

I tried to help Ryan post his project when there was a problem with its appearing on the front page.
