   In response to Shauna’s project about how films and skits were used to educate the teenagers as to how they are supposed to properly interact with those of the opposite sex, and how teenagers are to speak and comport themselves when it came to speaking with other adults, I find this to be such a strange phenomenon because I was surprised they did not speak with their children about all those things privately at home. I think that was taboo to speak with your kids about things, I am sure there were those families that did speak about this stuff, but I think the majority of parents at this time did not. My parents grew up in the 50s and I remember asking my mother questions about my grandparents and she did not know that much about her parents. Or I would ask her if her mother ever talked to her about specific things and she said “We did not talk about that,” I think a lot of things were not spoken of. The sad part about all this, to me anyway, is the fact that parents did not know their kids and vice versa. The family connections were role plays, families were in an actors set. The teenagers behaved in a different way when their parents were not around and then they behaved a more wholesome way when around adults, which I think made the kids more rebellious, misunderstood, and more deceitful. For them to be themselves would not be acceptable.
   I think the films were part of society trying to control their kids and in some ways help them to be more responsible, but I think that would have the opposite effect. Which I believe made the kids feel like they were being controlled and have even more reason to rebel against societies norms.
